Facilities and University Services

8.8 Use of Mail Services on Campus

Campus mail services are intended to be used only for official University activities and shall not be used for personal or non-business purposes or for group activities which have as their only relation to the University the fact that one or more members of the group are also University employees. Charges for postage expenses can only be made against the maintenance and operations accounts of officially budgeted units of the University, including state appropriated accounts, grants, contracts and other local sources of funds.

Campus mail services cannot be used for the following:

  • Registered faculty and staff organization communications
  • Solicitation of new members to any existing organization
  • Mailing newsletters or other bulk mailings which are customarily mailed from state or national organizations
  • Advertising or endorsing commercial products or services or for other purposes which would result in private gain for any person
  • Partisan political purposes
  • Religious purposes
  • Holiday cards or other special occasion mailing not for official university business
