Housing and Residence Life at UTSA is seeking skilled and personable students to serve as Housing Marketing Liaisons. Housing Marketing Liaisons will be at the front line (along with our Communications and Customer Relations Representative) for prospective students and family members interested in on-campus housing at Chaparral Village, Laurel Village, and Alvarez Hall. Throughout the year, Housing Marketing Liaisons will be asked to assist at formal University events where student participation is requested (i.e., university dignitaries).

Resident Assistant

Resident Assistants are student staff that live and work in either Chaparral Village, Laurel Village, or Alvarez Hall. They provide guidance to residents living in their community and act as a reference to the UTSA culture. They are seen as leaders in their residential communities as well as in the UTSA community.

 The 2019-2020 Resident Assistant job application will open via RowdyLink on November 26, 2018 and will close January 25, 2019. You may be asked to provide personal, professional, and/or RA references with your application. In addition, you must attend one of the following info sessions for your RA Application to be considered:

  • October 29, 2018: Alvarez Classroom, 7-8 p.m.
  • November 6, 2018: Laurel Conference Room, 7-8 p.m.
  • November 7, 2018: Chaparral Village NC 16, 7-8 p.m.

RA Job Description:

Resident Assistants are student staff members within the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The RA's principal duties include, but are not limited to, serving as the advisor, peer-counselor, friend, disciplinarian, and resource person for a community of residents. An RA will be responsible for but is not limited to, on-call duties, addressing residents' concerns, developing programs, maintaining a community bulletin board, working their community front desk, helping conduct fire drills, attending meetings, conducting health and safety inspections, and working Move-In and Move-Out weekends. RAs are expected to be available to their residents and report any situations that may arise to their supervisor. Complex Coordinators supervise Resident Assistants.

Do I have to attend an info session?

Yes, you are required to attend at least one info session this year in order to apply for an RA position.

When will I hear if I got the job?

April 2nd, 2019, is the date we will be contacting all candidates on whether or not you have been selected.

How many positions are open?

Though this number may change, there are approximately 54 RAs for the year. Both new applicants and current RAs who would like to return will be equally considered for employment.

What are the benefits of being an RA?

You will be given housing within your designated community, a meal plan, and a small monthly stipend. Additionally you will be provided with many personal and professional development opportunities throughout your time.

Can I choose where I am an RA?

No, all RA placements, new and returning, will be determined by the Residence Life staff to ensure a diverse and well-rounded staff, based on the needs of each community.

Can I be an RA if I have never lived on campus?


Am I eligible to be an RA if I am transferring to UTSA?

You must have at least 24 credit hours at UTSA before applying to the RA position.

Can I have another job as a first year RA?

No, the position of RA is time heavy and we do not allow first year RAs to have a second job.

Student Assistant

Student Assistants are student staff that  work the front desks of Chaparral Village, Laurel Village, and Alvarez Hall. These positions are staffed with part-time and work study students. These individuals assist residents with housing needs as well as UTSA Information. Facilities Student Clerk II

The Facilities Student Clerk's primary mission is to assist the full time HRL Facilities staff in performing routine maintenance and custodial work. The Facilities Student Clerk is a critical position within HRL Facilities as they are responsible for providing detailed work documentation, understanding and identifying maintenance and custodial issues within student housing areas, and knowing  the level of cleaning standards expected by Housing Facilities. In addition, Facilities Student Clerks are to adhere to all policies and procedures of campus housing, the Division of Student Affairs, and The University of Texas at San Antonio. Summer Conference Assistant

If you are a UTSA student looking for a summer job and enjoy interacting and helping people, look no further. The Summer Conference Assistants (SCA) are an essential part of our Summer Conference program that offers housing to groups, camps, and conference attendees staying at UTSA for some part of the summer. Our SCAs provide quality customer service to our guests and help ensure they have a positive stay with us. This position has a live-in requirement, and a meal plan will be provided Monday through Friday during the summer hours of operations for the Roadrunner Café.  Please read posted job description for further details.
