Student Dining
Meal PlansThe meal plans offer flexibility and convenience for the students at UTSA. Residents of Chaparral Village are required to purchase a meal plan. There are five plans available:
Meal plans are for a specific semester and unused meals do not carry over to the next semester. It is important that you choose a meal plan that you feel you will use during a specific semester. New students will sign up for a meal plan each semester. Students are able to adjust their meal plans for the second semester depending on their needs. Students are able to utilize their meal plans at any food location on campus with the exception of Subway and Starbucks. The franchise agreement does not allow for this option. The Roadrunner Café allows the students to eat "all you can eat" buffet with many choices. The other food venues allow trades to occur whereby students may exchange a meal for an equivalency such as a sandwich, fries, and drink.
Hours of OperationMeals plans will start with breakfast the day after the official opening of Student Housing each semester. The Roadrunner Café will be open Monday through Sunday with the exception of some university holidays. The Roadrunner Café will usually be closed for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.
Dining Hall FeaturesMongolian Grill, Market Carvery, The Fresh Grill, Casa Ortega, Pasta Bar, Pizza Station, Hot Dog and Baked Potato Bar, Sandwich Central, Garden Emporium, Double Treat Bakery, and Morning Editions with omelets cooked to order. For the more adventurous diner, every Friday features a different ethnic menu and there are monthly theme nights, such as Aloha Friday, Cajun Day and Taste of India.
