Promotion / Transfer Policy

“No transfer” policy

A staff member who is currently serving a six month probationary period is not eligible for consideration for a promotion and/or transfer until they have completed six months in their current position.

A staff member who is newly promoted or transferred is not eligible for consideration for another promotion and/or transfer until they have completed six months in their current position.

A transfer or promotion within the same department is permissible, if the transfer does not result in a change in the immediate supervisor and employee meets the required qualifications for the position.

Waiver of the “No transfer” policy

Should extenuating circumstances exist, an employee may request a waiver of the ‘no transfer' policy. Waiver requests must be submitted in writing (email is acceptable) and routed through the employee's management chain, to the Associate Director of Employee Relations. The Associate Director's decision is final.

Probationary employees: Approved waivers of the ‘no transfer' policy does not constitute a waiver of the probationary period and does not ‘restart' the probationary period, but continues until the expiration of the original six (6) months in the new department or position.
