Important notice to all benefits eligible employees regarding Vacation Leave Balances

As you are aware, employees may carry over unused vacation leave hours from one fiscal year to the next (September 1st through August 31st).  The amount of allowable carryover vacation hours depends upon the length of state service and the number of hours an employee is appointed to work per week.  Please refer to this table to determine the amount of unused vacation leave hours that you may carry forward.  All vacation leave hours in excess of the maximum allowable carryover will be converted to sick leave and credited to the employee’s sick leave balance on September 1st. 

It is important that all time and absence reporting is completed in PeopleSoft by the Timesheet Deadlines provided by Payroll Management Services.  September accruals will be posted after the vacation leave hours in excess of the maximum allowable carryover are converted to sick leave.

As a reminder, all vacation leave requests should be approved by the employee’s immediate supervisor in advance and before using leave to ensure all business needs are met.
