Summary

 

·  Function:    To provide operations management and administration of the University Center.

 

·  Scope:        Responsible for University Center facility operations and asset security in compliance with UTSA and University Center policies and procedures.

 

Duties

 

·  Typical:

1.      Provides early morning, evening, and weekend operations management and administration of the UTSA University Center in association with and under the direction of the Assistant Director.

2.      Provides fiscal accountability in the opening and closing of the Information Center and reconciles daily sales.

3.      Ensures daily receipts are deposited in drop safe at the close of daily business; ensures fiscal accountability of the safe and safe room contents.

4.      Hires, trains, schedules, supervises, and evaluates student staff in association with building supervisors.

5.      Manages The Roost student activity center; oversees staff, equipment and vendor contracts.

6.      Provides supervision for building supervisors through daily meetings and periodic evaluations; monitors building and grounds for cleanliness.

7.      Maintains the security of the University Center; ensures all policies and procedures are enforced and proper decorum is maintained.

8.      Provides technical advice and assistance to the University Center staff and event sponsors on the use of special equipment.

9.      Assists in the coordination and preparation of the facility and the set-up of physical and technical specifications for all reserved spaces.

10.  Maintains positive relations with all University Center guests, event sponsors and service providers.

 

11.  Manages University Center and Student Activities equipment inventory; reports damage and malfunctions of equipment and furniture.

12.  Acts as a liaison to Facilities Services for maintenance and housekeeping.

13.  Prepares daily, monthly, and other reports.

14.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

 

Required

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, communication or a related field

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Business Administration, communication or a related field

 

Other Requirements

Demonstrated oral and written communications skills and the ability to work with diverse groups.

Working knowledge of multi-media computer applications and equipment.

Ability to lift up to 40 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.

Criminal Background Check (CBC).

 

Experience

Three years of progressively responsible experience in facility and/or operations management including a minimum of two years of supervisory experience.

Two years of experience in University Center/Student Union or Conference Center facility management

Experience within a metropolitan university setting.

Experience in student affairs and student activities

 

Equipment

Personal computer, including the Microsoft Office Suite and standard office equipment.

Working knowledge of point of sale systems.

Audio-Visual equipment to include LCD projector, slide and film projectors, sound systems, microphones, etc.

Housekeeping and building services equipment and chemicals.
