Summary

 

·  Function:   To assist in the preparation and processing of University and departmental annual operating budgets.

 

·  Scope:      Responsible for the application of advanced budget analysis techniques in the preparation of university and departmental operating budgets.

 

Duties

 

·  Typical:

1.      Assists in the analysis and preparation of annual budget documents.  Oversees and assists in the collection of data for budgetary requests and reports.

2.      Assists in reviewing and processing electronic documents for personnel appointments, budget transactions, and account balances. Communicates verbally and in writing on budget and cost issues.

3.      Assists departments in resolving problems regarding fund sources, cost issues, budget categories, account balances/insufficient funds, strategic initiatives, etc.

4.      Trains users in processing electronic budgetary documents.

5.      Assists departments with technical issues regarding the institution’s electronic budget program.  Assists new users with the creation and processing of electronic documents.

6.      Compiles data and responds to special information requests and requests for budgetary information, processes and procedures.

7.      Performs other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.

One year of experience in budget analysis and preparation, payroll, accounting or related area.

Similar experience in higher education.
