Summary

 

·  Function:   To provide advanced supervisory skills in performing varied and difficult purchasing duties within the department.

 

·  Scope:      Responsible for securing materials at the best possible price form a reliable source where required and for resolving procurement problems of a non-routine nature.

 

Duties

 

·  Typical:

 

1.      Receives and screens requisitions for method of processing and determines work priorities.

2.      Supervises preparation of local bid invitations.

3.      Awards local orders based on tabulation of quotations received.

4.      Maintains direct and telephone communication with vendors and University personnel involved in the procurement cycle.

5.      Follows up on orders placed based on information supplied by central receiving and ordering departments.

6.      Confer with departmental personnel concerning specifications, complaints and special problems pertaining to procurement; establish and maintain internal/external vendor relations; and monitor, investigate, and perform routine and non-routine problem resolution.

7.      Perform additional duties as assigned.

 

·  Periodic:

 

1.      Prepares specifications, researches product information and identifies supply sources.

2.      Assist in training new personnel.

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution in Business.

Certified Texas Purchaser or Certified Professional Public buyer.

Criminal Background Check. (CBC)

Thorough knowledge of State, Board of Regents’ and University purchasing regulations.

 

 

Experience

Two years of responsible procurement experience.

Three or more years of procurement experience in a Texas public college or university.
