Summary

 

·  Function:   To provide routine and varied purchasing duties within the department for the purpose of obtaining supplies and equipment.

 

·  Scope:      Responsible for routine and basic skills in carrying out procurement actions in accordance with the University and State rules and regulations.

 

Duties

 

·  Typical:

 

1.      Receives requisitions, secures bids, tabulates and makes award on routine purchases.

2.      Processes contract requisitions.

3.      Maintains records and files of requisitions, bids and awards processed to provide departments, bidders and vendors with the current status of purchases processed.

4.      Maintains limited contact with departmental personnel and vendors on varied and routine items.

5.      Mark requisitions accurately for typing purchase orders.

6.      Must be familiar with many and varied types of merchandise so as to properly advise departmental personnel as to quality and source.

7.      Perform additional duties as assigned.

1.      Follow up on receipt of materials and supplies.

 

Education

 

Required

Preferred

Associates degree from an accredited institution in any field of study.

Some college or business school courses in an accredited institution.

 

Other Requirements

Certified Texas Purchaser or Certified Professional Public buyer.

Six months of experience in related purchasing activities, involving state contract and purchasing regulations.
