Accessibility and usability

The UTSA Web is meant to provide easy access to information. University sites are designed to allow access to those with disabilities and limited user experience.

General Guidelines

Text and writing style

Text should be significantly contrasted from the background. Do not use background images that interfere with text. Use a concise writing style.

Images and photos

Please refer to the Images and Graphics page for detailed information.

Additional Guidelines and Resources

State and federal mandates

The university's policies are in line with the following state and federal government policies:

Standards Review and Recommendation Publication
SRRPUB11
World Wide Web Design Standards and Coding Guidelines
Web Accessibility & Usability

Search engines

One of the university's Web site goals is to improve the search rankings of university content. Accessible sites accomodate the limited browsing ability of so-called "search spiders," allowing for more content to be indexed.
