ITA Frequently Asked Questions..

UTSA

I am the system administrator for a server in my department. Do I need permission to scan the files on my department's server?
No, you do not need permission to scan. You should be scanning to ensure there are no unauthorized files (i.e. pirated software, personal business, pictures, movies and music files etc.). If you are not sure if it is authorized contact Annette Evans at ext. 5899 and she will have her staff assist you.

Can I send Banner IDs within an e-mail?
Yes, Banner IDs do not require the same level of protection as SSNs.

Where can I find out about the latest operating system updates and patches?
The IT Help Desk (ext. 5538) has information on operating systems that the university has installed on its PCs.
