UTSA Study
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the requirements? Most programs require 2.5 cumulative G.P.A. You must have sophomore status at the time of application.
Check language requirements for non-English speaking countries. When should I apply? UTSA recommends that you begin your application process at
least 6 months before the semester you would like to participate. Make sure you meet the
deadline requirements. Are all majors welcomed? Yes. Students from all majors can study abroad. Program
options may be more limited with some majors, however. Can I use financial assistance? Yes. Check with the Financial Aid Office for more information. If I have little foreign language experience, can I still go to school in another country? It is always to a student’s advantage to know as much of
the native language as possible; however, depending on the country it may not be a requirement. Will I be able to transfer academic credit?
Yes. You have to meet the requirements the semester
before departure. You will not be eligible to apply for UTSA's International Education Fund Scholarship
unless you have completed one semester at UTSA before you apply. This means that you would need to
complete two full semesters at UTSA in order to be eligible to apply for a scholarship through UTSA. Can graduate students go? Yes, but the program may be limited. Consult program
director for eligibility prior to applying. Can seniors apply? UTSA does not recommend this because of potential delay in
graduation. In addition, you must have the dean’s permission to waive residency requirements. Click to return to: |
