Information for Applicants:

Important Dates:

Applications for the Jr/Sr MBRS-RISE Program are accepted continuously.  The program has 15 positions for participants, 6 of which are reserved for individual Ph.D. programs.  The remaining positions are filled competitively from applicants from the participating programs.


Materials and Requirements for the Application: 

·  Must be full time UTSA Doctoral Student (or will be in Fall 2008)

·  Must be American Citizen or Permanent Resident

·  In academic good standing with your program

·  In or accepted into one of the following Ph.D. programs and desiring to
   perform research with required emphases: 

  • Biology

  • Biomedical Engineering

  • Physics with a Biophysics emphasis

  • Chemistry

  • Computer Science with a Biomedical emphasis

·  Two Letters of Recommendation (If you have performed laboratory rotations or are in a laboratory at UTSA or UTHSCSA, then at least one of these should be from a researcher associated with your program).

·  Personal Statement

·  Applicants should also provide any of the following that are pertinent:

  • A Curriculum Vitae

  • Qualifying Examination completion dates

  • A copy of their accepted Research Proposal

  • A proposed timeline for completion of their Specific Aims

  • A copy of abstracts or publications on which they are an author

·  You must be willing to participate fully in the MBRS-RISE training program, including coursework and grant submission...
