The NIH/NIGMS-Funded
MBRS-RISE (Minority Biomedical Research Support
- Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement)
program is designed to assist underrepresented students to attain their
doctoral degrees in the biomedical and
behavioral sciences.
The UTSA RISE grant consists of both undergraduate and doctoral training components and was recently renewed for August 2012 - July 2017. Our RISE Ph.D. program supports 15 students to obtain their degrees in Cell and Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer
Science, Psychology, or Physics. RISE Trainees, who are selected
competitively, receive
financial support, mentoring, travel funding for conferences,
