MBRS-RISE/MARC U*STAR Research Symposia provide a showcase for students in both programs to practice presenting their research, receive feedback on their work, and network with peers and faculty.  The RISE/MARC Symposium will be held at least once per year (also Spring 2006), and will particularly focus on preparing our students for the Fall "conference season," which includes such commonly-attended conferences as SACNAS, SFN, and ABRCMS.  All RISE and MARC students who have obtained sufficient data during their summer or intramural research efforts are expected to present their research.  Student presenters are encouraged to submit abstracts that have been created for summer programs or for any of the Fall conferences, or to work with their mentors and/or Dr. Taylor to create abstracts.  Students will have the opportunity to request to give an oral presentation (a limited number will take place); otherwise, they will give a poster presentation. Students selected to give an oral presentation at any upcoming conference are expected to present orally.

The Fall 2004 Symposium was held on September 17, in the Loeffler Room in the UTSA Bioscience Building.  .  Photos from the Fall 2004 Symposium can be accessed at this link!  The Symposium Booklet is accessible here.

The Fall 2005 Symposium was held in the same venue on October 28, 2005.  Photos are available here!  Booklet is available here.

The Spring 2006 Symposium was held in the NEW BSE Multi-purpose room on March 10, 2006.  Photos and a Synopsis are available here!
