UTSA Identity Manager (IDM)
Background
In order to support the change to new network IDs, UTSA has purchased a product by Sun Microsystems to replace the P-synch password management system.
End users and administrators (OIT Support Services (Help Desk) and Student Computing Services) will be able to change or reset passwords through IdM.
Logging In to IDM
Identity Manager is available at: https://idm.utsa.edu
Use your myUTSA ID and password to log in to the system.
Passwords

Users will be prompted to change their password every 180 days

Users will be locked out after 5 unsuccessful logon attempts

Users can only reset their own password ONE time per day (then must call HD for assistance)

After a password has been reset, the user is required to change the password at next logon

Users will receive an e-mail message whenever their password is changed or reset

Users cannot reuse their last three passwords
New password requirements
The new password must consist of:
- A minimum length of 8 characters
And three out of the four following:

At least one numeric character
-
At least one uppercase alphabetic character

At least one lowercase alphabetic character

At least one special character, but only from the following list: ! (exclamation mark)
% (percent sign)
* (asterisk)
+ (plus sign)
- (dash)
/ (forward slash)
: (colon)
? (question mark)
_ (underscore)
Personal Questions
Users should have previously answered their three security questions to allow for online resets of their password.
Existing personal questions/answers from P-sync were brought in to IdM.
Users must answer 2 of 3 questions correctly in order to reset or change their own password.
