Roles and Responsibilities
Each group's responsibilities is also defined on the Encryption Schedule and Process page.
Laptop User

Review the Laptop Encryption Program Memorandum (PDF sample) e-mailed to you by your Inventory Control Person (ICP).

Complete the Laptop Encryption Preparation Worksheet (PDF) (regardless of whether the laptop is going to be encrypted).

Contact your specified Information Security Administrator (ISA) listed in the Laptop Encryption Program Memorandum to arrange a laptop drop-off time. Drop off laptop to the ISA at that scheduled time.

Complete the Equipment Removal Form (hard copy only) provided to you by your assigned ICP.

At scheduled time, drop off the laptop with your assigned ISA.

Place AC adapter and completed forms into Ziploc bag. Return Ziploc bag to your ISA.
Inventory Contact Person (ICP)

Use the Inventory List to send an e-mail message to all laptop users in your area during Week 1 of the Encryption Program process. OIT will provide an e-mail template. ICPs should view the Encryption Schedule and Process page for a more comprehensive timeline.

Deliver the Encryption Deployment Package (distributed at your departmental kick-off meeting).
Information Security Administrator (ISA)

Complete the Laptop Encryption Scheduling Worksheet (PDF).

Arrange and schedule the pick-up time for the users' laptops.

Collect laptops from laptop users.

Collect the plastic bags (with AC adapter and two completed forms) from each end laptop user.

Return laptops to laptop users after they have been serviced.
