Archive Items in Microsoft Outlook

Follow these steps to manually archive your Outlook 2000/2002/2003 e-mail messages.

  1. From the File menu, select Archive
  2. Select the Archive this Folder and All Subfolders option.
  3. Select the folder or folders that you want to archive.
  4. From the Archive Items Older Than drop-down list, select the date before which you want to archive.
  5. Click the Browse button.
  6. From the Save In drop-down list, select the location where you want to store the archive.
  7. In the File Name text box, type a name for the archive file.
  8. Click OK.
  9. In the Archive window, click OK.

NOTE: The archived folder you just created is stored on your computer, not on the Exchange server. If your computer is not backed up regularly, you need to manually back up the personal folder (.pst) file.
