Automatic Updates on a Mac

Customize Mac Network Settings on the UTSA Network

If your Mac desktop is not currently managed by OITConnect, you will want to be sure to maintain updates for your software, such as Microsoft Office.

(Tip: Adding Full Membership to the campus network on your Mac is an hassle-free way to have updates automatically pushed to your Mac. View the Full Access page for more information or contact OITConnect for assistance.)

The easiest way to check for and apply updates is simply to use "Check for updates" in the Help menu of any one of the Microsoft Office applications:

  1. Open any Microsoft Office file.
  2. Click Check for updates in the Help menu.
  3. Figure 1. Check for updates

Figure 1. Select the appropriate radio button to import information or continue

  4. Configure your update settings to check for updates automatically and on a weekly or daily basis.
  5. Figure 2. Microsoft AutoUpdate

Figure 2. Select the appropriate radio button to import information or continue

  6. Click Check for Updates.
  7. Proceed with updates if needed.
