Project Management

The PMO’s Mission

The OIT Project Management Office will help you initiate, plan and maintain your department’s next endeavor using strategic project management tools.

With so many new requests for products, services and/or information flooding into OIT, we need to be able to plan, prioritize, monitor status and show delivery of projects that are completed according to scope, to being on time, and to being within budget. In order to be successful, in both our customers’ eyes and our own, we need to all be on the same page as far as what is expected and when it is to be completed. If we are able to stay focused on a set of objectives, we can deliver what the customer expects, when it is expected. We all win. If we are constantly fighting fires, everyone gets frustrated while juggling the "hot" items because things get unexpectedly reprioritized.

Project management techniques and training are designed to ensure your success. Management can help the project manager by setting the scope and priority on projects and by not deviating from that plan unless it is absolutely necessary. The project manager can help management by keeping them informed of the projects in progress and of their status. The PMO will facilitate this interaction.
