Enrollment Policy
Maximum Class Size:
Class size is determined by the number of software licenses and the instructor to participant ratio. Adobe - which include Dreamweaver and Acrobat - and Microsoft Access classes are limited at 15 participants per class. All other software training courses are limited at 20 participants per class.
Enroll in Classes:
Visit the Registration and Enrollment section.
Waiting List:
Once the maximum class size has been reached, participants interested in attending the class will be placed on a waiting list. The waiting list is displayed on the TX Class web site (https://utdirect.utexas.edu/txclass) which is maintained by Human Resources Training and Development.
As registered participants withdraw from a class, participants on the waiting list will fill the vacated slots on a first-come/first-served basis. Participants on the waiting list are encouraged to monitor the TX Class web site for available slots vacated by registered participants.
One or two days prior to the class, participants on the waiting list will receive a reminder notice about the class from the instructor or Human Resources Training and Development. The reminder notice will include instructions for admission into the class on the actual class date.
Participants on the waiting list are strongly encouraged to show up the day of the class and sign in as walk-ins. If a registered participant is more than 5 minutes late to a class, a walk-in will be allowed to use the software license that was allocated to the registered user.
Due to software licensing restrictions, walk-ins are not guaranteed an opportunity to use the software in the hands-on activities. Walk-ins are welcome to observe the class if all software licenses are used by registered participants, and they will receive credit for attending the class through Human Resources Training and Development.
Cancellations:
Software training classes will not be cancelled provided at least 1 participant is registered for the class. Classes at the Downtown campus will be cancelled if no participants have registered for the class by 4:30 pm the day before the class is scheduled to occur.
In the event of an emergency, registered participants will be notified of a class cancellation by Human Resources Training and Development as soon as possible. Human Resources Training and Development will provide the registered participants with the date, time and location for the rescheduled class.
Prerequisite Courses and Skills:
Participants in the software training courses should complete all courses in sequence. Advanced training courses build upon the topics that are mastered in the beginner courses.
Advanced training courses also require prerequisite skills and basic computer hardware/software knowledge. Prerequisite skills include operating a mouse and keyboard, opening a software program, saving a file, and using toolbars and menus. Any participants who are lacking the prerequisite skills are encouraged to attend a basic computer class, such as Introduction to Computers.
For more information about prerequisite skills, refer to the course description of the training course you are interested in attending.
