what is roadrunner roundup?
Roadrunner Roundup is new student orientation. The program content is designed to help you explore all the opportunities that will be available to you at UTSA. During Roadrunner Roundup, you will be introduced to various services on campus, consult with your advisor, register for classes, and meet with fellow new students. Roadrunner Roundup is your first step in getting off to a good start and is Mandatory for all new students with 0-29 semester hours.
when does roadrunner roundup take place?
Fall Roadrunner Roundup Programs for incoming students are held on selected days during June through August. Roundups for Spring are held in December and January. Summer Roundup Programs are held in May and June.
who can attend roadrunner roundup?
Any student accepted for a Summer, Fall or Spring semester is eligible to attend a Roadrunner Roundup Program applicable to their term. Those students who have been accepted and are transferring 30 or more credit hours have the option of attending one of our Transfer Roundup Programs.
i am transferring hours from another college. does this make me eligible to attend a transfer roundup program?
If you are transferring 30 or more hours, you are considered a transfer student and are eligible to attend a Transfer Roundup Program. If you are transferring less than 30 hours, you are considered a Freshman Transfer and are required to attend Roadrunner Roundup.
do i have to make a reservation for roadrunner roundup in order to attend or can i just show up?
An advance reservation is required to attend any Roadrunner Roundup program. Walk-ins will not be allowed to participate in the program and will need to re-schedule for a different session.
what are the fees associated with roadrunner roundup?
A full list of the orientation fees can be reviewed under the Roadrunner Roundup Fee link. All fees will be included on your tuition and fees bill for the appropriate semester.
why am i required to attend roadrunner roundup?
New students are required to attend Roadrunner Roundup because it is where you are provided information regarding academic requirements, meet with an academic advisor, schedule your classes for the, Fall, Spring and/or Summer semester, and meet faculty, staff, and other students, as well as begin to familiarize yourself with the University.
is it possible for me to register for classes at the university without attending roadrunner roundup?
No, newly admitted students with 0-29 college credit transferable semester hours must attend Roadrunner Roundup prior to registering for their classes.
how do i make my reservation for roadrunner roundup?
Log into ASAP (Automated Student Access Program). When making your reservation for the first time, or changing sessions, you will need to be prepared to enter your Student Banner ID # and your PIN. From this point on, you will be in a secure site. Please be assured that it is safe to enter the requested information online.
what is my pin?
Your PIN is your Personal Identification Number. This is NOT your Student ID number. Your PIN number is your date of birth. This will be entered in the format of MMDDYY. For example, if you were born January 20, 1980, your PIN is 012080. You will be prompted once you log in to create a new PIN number for security purposes.
what if the session I want to make my reservation for is no longer available?
Making a reservation for a Roadrunner Roundup session is done on a first come, first served basis. If the session you wanted to attend is full and/or no longer available because the deadline has passed, you will need to select an alternative session date.
can I make my reservation for and/or attend roadrunner roundup without having my thea scores or thea exemption on file?
Yes, you can ONLY make a reservation for a Roundup program but you must complete all required testing prior to your orientation program. Students that fail to complete testing will be asked to reschedule their orientation experience for a later date. The Texas Success Initiative is a state-legislated program that requires students to be assessed in reading, writing, and math skills prior to enrolling in a Texas public institution and to be advised based on that assessment. UTSA administers the THEA. Test scores or any exemptions must be on file prior to attending a Roadrunner Roundup. Please consult Testing Services at (210) 458 - 4125 for more information regarding the TSI and exemptions.
i am having trouble making my reservation online. who can i contact for further assistance?
Though we never anticipate problems with our orientation reservation system, occasionally the system maybe temporarily down for updates. If you experience difficulty in making a reservation for your Roadrunner Roundup and are unable to determine a reason, please contact Orientation and Transition Services at (210) 458 - 4724 for further assistance.
i have already registered for roadrunner roundup. what happens now?
All students who have made their reservation for Roadrunner Roundup and have a confirmation letter need to complete the following prior to attending the program.
Testing
- All students who are not exempt from the Texas Success Initiative must take the THEA or one of the approved TSI exams, such as the Accuplacer, and submit test scores to UTSA PRIOR to participating in Roadrunner Roundup. If you have not taken the THEA and your Roundup date is coming up or you need more information about test schedules, contact Testing Services at (210) 458 - 4125 or visit their website at http://www.utsa.edu/testing/.
Health forms
- All students under the age of 18 are required to have a Student Health History form on file at Student Health Services signed by a parent or guardian. Students received this form in their Admissions acceptance packet. The Student Health History form must be completed as soon as possible and mailed back to Student Health Services or turned in to UTSA during the Roadrunner Roundup program. It is important for all students under the age of 18 to complete this requirement prior to the first day of classes.
- If a student under the age of 18 does not have this on file, a HOLD will be placed on their record and prevent them from registering for classes. All Student Health History forms will be maintained at Student Health Services. do i need to send in my payment for roadrunner roundup when i make my reservation?
No, you do not need to send in payment for Roadrunner Roundup when you make your reservation. This fee will be included on your tuition and fees bill and collected when you pay your tuition.
i have already made my reservation for roadrunner roundup and will be unable to attend the session I originally selected. how can I change my session?
If you have already made your reservation for an Orientation session and will no longer be able to attend, you can change your session by logging back into the orientation reservation system and selecting a new session date. No fee will be assessed if you cancel before the deadline.
i have already made travel arrangements and the session I wanted to make my reservation for is no longer available. what do I do?
Orientation and Transition Services asks that you do not make any travel arrangements until you have made your reservation and are confirmed for that session by the orientation reservation system.
what materials do i need to take with me to roadrunner roundup?
When attending Roadrunner Roundup you will want to bring along a picture ID of yourself, Roundup Confirmation Letter, as well as your Orientation parking tag (you should have received this along with your confirmation letter) and spending money.
what sort of attire do you recommend wearing to roadrunner roundup?
Orientation programs are casual, so dress for comfort. We recommend wearing tennis shoes as there will be some walking involved. You may also want to bring a light jacket or sweater to keep yourself comfortable in some of our classrooms. We also recommend bringing an umbrella.
what do i do if i am unable to attend any of the roadrunner roundup sessions?
If you are unable to attend any of the Roadrunner Roundup sessions listed, please contact Orientation and Transition Services at (210) 458-4724. Orientation is a requirement at UTSA therefore if a student can not attend orientation they may need to reapply for another term when they can attend an orientation program.
