1604 campus - roadrunner roundup
Roadrunner Roundup at the 1604 campus is a three-day, two-night program designed to meet the needs of freshman and freshman transfers who will take the majority of their classes at the 1604 campus. All freshman and freshman transfer students are required to attend every program session during Roadrunner Roundup in order to register for classes. Orientation begins on Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. and concludes on Thursdays at 5:30 p.m. Please do not plan on departing campus prior to 5:30 p.m. on Thursdays.
what you need to know before you arrive
- All freshman and freshman transfer students attending the 1604 fall orientation program are required to stay on campus at Chaparral Village as a part of their Roundup experience.
- IMPORTANT…..Underage possession and consumption of alcoholic beverages and/or illegal drugs is a violation of UTSA Student Code of Conduct, State, and Federal Laws. Furthermore, Chaparral Village is a dry community meaning that no alcohol, regardless of age, is allowed on property. Any Orientation student(s) found with or under the influence of alcohol and/or illegal drugs are subject to Chaparral Village and UTSA Student Judicial Processes and removal from Orientation housing. Students may also be required to repeat their Roadrunner Roundup at their own expense.
housing & meal accommodations for roundup
• Students will be housed in Chaparral Village featuring four bedroom apartments with semi-private bathrooms. Each student will be assigned a private room in an apartment that is shared with same gender roommates.
• Two lunches, one breakfast, and two dinner meals plus evening snacks and refreshments are provided
• Evening social events ranging from pool parties to an evening at the Recreation Center plus various neighborhood-center activities.
what to bring?
Each Chaparral Village apartment is fully furnished and equipped with a kitchenette, living room, four private bedrooms and two full bathrooms. All kitchenettes have a full size refrigerator and a microwave. Each apartment is also equipped with free local and long distance phone service and individual climate control. Televisions and phones are not provided in the room.

The Roadrunner Roundup program experience is divided into the following:

welcome to roadrunner country!
You will begin your roundup experience with orientation and housing check-in (please leave your luggage in the car during check-in) at the Chaparral Village main lobby. Chaparral Village features an on-campus apartment-style residential community for your lodging during orientation
After check-in and the opening session, you will spend the day with your Orientation Leader and fellow new students, becoming familiar with UTSA’s campus resources. You will also have the option of taking placement tests. To determine whether or not you need or would like to take a placement test, please contact Testing Services at (210) 458-4125 or choose the Testing link to be directed to the Testing Services website. As the sun sets, you will wrap up day one with a campus tour followed by some free time at the Campus Recreation Center.

let’s get rowdy!
On this day you will meet up with your Orientation Leader and welcome another action packed day. You will meet faculty, staff, and administrators; learn about academic resources, and student life at UTSA. In the evening, you will start preparing for your academic advising appointment and course registration with the help of your Orientation Leader and wrap up day two by relaxing pool side to the sounds of a DJ or choosing from several other activities located throughout Chaparral Village. By the end of the day you will be on your way to becoming a Roadrunner!

Wrap up your Roundup experience with academic advising, course registration, a financial/fiscal responsibility session and paying tuition/fees. Don't forget to check-out of Chaparral Village.
