what to expect - spring & summer
1604 campus & downtown - roadrunner roundup
During the Spring or Summer terms, Roadrunner Roundup at either the 1604 or Downtown Campus is a one day program experience designed to meet the needs of freshmen and freshman transfers. Students should select an orientation program at the campus where they will be taking the majority of their classes. All students who have declared their major in the College of Architecture or College of Public Policy must attend a Downtown Roundup Orientation.
At either the 1604 or Downtown Campus Roundup programs you’ll be given time to:
- meet faculty, staff, administration, and other new students
- become familiar with the campus, academic buildings, services, and resources
- meet in a small group with Orientation Leaders and learn about student life at UTSA
- take a campus tour
- meet with an academic advisor and select your classes
- register and complete on-campus business, such as financial aid, and getting your student ID
required testing
As an incoming freshman or freshman transfer student it is your responsibility to schedule any tests you need to complete prior to attending your Roundup session. All students who are not exempt from the Texas Success Initiative (see the Required Testing link below for more information) must take the THEA or one of the approved TSI exams, such as Accuplacer, and submit test scores to UTSA prior to participating in the Roundup program.
advising & registration for freshmen & freshman transfer students
The Colleges’ Freshman Advising Center (CFAC) will advise and register all freshman students who have a declared major or a specific college. The Tomas Rivera Center (TRC) will advise and register all freshmen who have not yet decided on a major or a specific college. Advising during Roadrunner Roundup will be offered individually or in small group sessions depending on your advising center. At the end of your advising, you will be assisted with registering for your courses, and will receive a copy of your course schedule. If you would like more information about academic advising before you attend Roadrunner Roundup, at the 1604 campus call either the CFAC at (210) 458-5170 or TRC at (210) 458-4694. At the Downtown campus contact Undergraduate Advising at (210) 458-2838 or the TRC at (210) 458-2550.
**important note**
Any new student that fails to complete their TSI and provide scores or proof of exemption status prior to attending their Roundup program will be asked to reschedule their program date. Test results are an important part of your orientation process therefore read through the information on the Required Testing for Orientation, contact Testing Services at (210) 458-4125 or visit the testing Web site at www.utsa.edu/testing.
