Rowdy Ties is an orientation program for family members of incoming UTSA students. Parents, family members, and guests are encouraged to attend Orientation with their student as Rowdy Ties participants. The program gives family members an introduction to UTSA by focusing on academic affairs, student life, and Roadrunner spirit and traditions.

Rowdy Ties Spring Orientations are one day in length and are typically offered in December and January. Family members who attend this Rowdy Ties Orientation can expect to accompany their UTSA students only during certain parts of the student orientation program. Guests will have the opportunity to listen to, meet and speak with staff from various student service areas. Orientation Leaders (OL’s) will guide small groups of participants through a campus tour and informative sessions. In addition, our guests are provided with publications to help them learn about their students’ transition process. Lunch is provided during all Rowdy Ties Spring Orientation programs. A reservation for a Rowdy Ties Spring Orientation is required and can be made through a student’s ASAP account. Space is limited and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
