Orientation and Family Programs, a department in the Division of Student Affairs is proud to offer programs and services that support a successful transition for new students and family members to UTSA. Our mission is to provide new students and their family members with a structured and comprehensive introduction to the range of opportunities at the University of Texas at San Antonio; to assist new students in their transition to the institution; and to integrate them into campus life. The Orientation Advisory Board, OAB, was created to help make orientation programs more effective and meaningful to students. With representation from the Office of Academic Affairs and the Office of Student Affairs, the board meets regularly throughout the year to discuss suggestions for program improvement and to ensure that appropriate modifications are implemented. The OAB welcomes proposals from the entire UTSA community.
E-mail or campus mail proposals to George Norton, Assistant Vice President for Admissions, Orientation and Family programs. The proposals will be evaluated by the Orientation Advisory Board and the selections will be announced in November.

Orientation Leaders (OL's) are a dedicated group of student leaders that play an important role in facilitating the adjustment of new students and their families to UTSA. Our team is trained to share accurate information about academic, personal, and social resources while working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and administrators. OL's are serve in a variety of OFP activities such as New Student Orientation (Roadrunner Roundup), Family Orientation (Rowdy Ties), Roadrunner Camp and the Orientation Leader Association. | The Orientation Leader of the Year is an award that is presented annually to an Orientation Leader that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to mission, goals, and purpose of orientation. In addition, these outstanding leaders demonstrate an exceptional ability to lead, motivate, and serve as role-models for their fellow staff members. The Freshmen Crew Orientation Leader of the Year 2010 was Bryan Barahona and the Family Crew Orientation Leader of the Year 2010 was Willyam "BJ" Winston. |

In the spring semester, Orientation and Family Programs is proud to acknowledge the work of Orientation Leaders in Training by selecting an outstanding leader of the month. The 2009 OL of the Month in Training recipients were: Dominique Smith; William "BJ" Winston; Victoria Carrillo and Kelsy Kirkpatrick.
