P20 Initiatives

Mission

The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Office of P-20 Initiatives strives to increase UTSA’s partnerships and collaborations with educational institutions, businesses, industries, community-based organizations and public/private foundations to strengthen the quality of education in San Antonio and South Texas from kindergarten to college. As a comprehensive university-wide effort, the Office of P-20 Initiatives seeks to provide leadership in educational reform and facilitate university involvement in public education through programming, research and service. The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Office of P-20 Initiatives efforts are in support of The University of Texas System’s P-20 Initiative.

Vision

The vision of the Office of P-20 Initiatives is to be a model of excellence within the UT System and to be recognized as a regional and national leader in “closing the education gap” and “increasing access to the educational pipeline” for students from pre-kindergarten through graduate school from those populations that have been traditionally underserved and underrepresented.

Goals

  1. To increase access to higher education through outreach programs.
  2. To increase student academic success by preparing (college readiness) middle/high school students to enroll & persist into a post-secondary institution.
  3. To increase opportunities for high school students to earn college credit and matriculate to post secondary education.
  4. To increase UTSA student persistence by providing financial assistance support via mentoring, work study and research opportunities.
  5. Maintain efficient administrative procedures to support staff in achieving their goals.
