Demonstration Kitchen

The Demo Kitchen is an interactive cooking demonstration. This instructional program teaches cooking techniques, recipes, and the nutritional content. The meals are designed to be healthy, inexpensive and contain ingredients that are easily used in other recipes. Nutritional information will be given by our Registered Dietitian. The program will typically last 1 hour. Food will be provided free to the first 20 participants to sign up at: fitness@utsa.edu. All demonstration kitchens will start promptly at the times specified below so please arrive at least 5 minutes early to ensure your spot and to hear important safety/food allergen information.

Each meal prepared in the demo kitchen will include a meal cost sheet and nutrition information sheet. The goal will be to make all meals easy on the college student's budget and easy to prepare with the resources available to most college students.

College Friendly Cooking Series

New to cooking? Do you spend your entire paycheck on takout and fast food? Our Student Cooking Instructors will teach you how to make healthy and delicious meals on your own and provide recipes that are quick, easy and affordable!

International Cooking Series

Learn about cuisines from around the world! This cultural experience will teach you about ingredients used in various regions of the world and the role of food and cooking in different countries. You will also sample authentic international dishes and learn recipes to use in your own home.

Chef Series

Love to cook and consider yourself a "foodie"? Then this sessions for you. During this series we will be utilizing a number of culinary techniques that you can try at home.

Level I Cooking Demonstrations

These demonstrations are designed to require only the basic cooking utensils, cooking techniques and ingredients. Each recipe will consist of 8 ingredients or less, take less than 30 minutes to prepare on your own.

Level II Cooking Demonstrations

These demonstrations expand on the Level I option by incorporating more diverse cooking techniques and ingredients. These recipes will consist of 12 or less ingredients, will take 40 minutes or less to prepare on your own.
