Student Information Systems Security
BANNER is a student information system and Ellucian™ product. Access to BANNER is controlled by the Student Information Systems Security Department in the Enrollment Information Systems Department. Data in BANNER can be accessed by report writers like Crystal Reports™.
Account Access - Data Custodians
Access to BANNER is grouped into "classes", and BANNER users are issued multiple classes. Authorization by the Data Custodian is dependent upon the type of access being requested.
WebXtender™ - ApplicationXtender™ - ScanXtender™ - Appworx™
WebXtender, ApplicationXtender, ScanXtender, and Appworx are a collection of data information retrieval tools that work for BANNER. UTSA faculty and staff can use these tools to view original documents, run reports, or scan new documents in the BANNER database. Access to these tools is managed by the Student Information Systems Security Department.
Information stored in UTSA's BANNER system is confidential and protected by UTSA's Privacy & Security Policy, and the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
As of January 1st, 2011, release of new, transfer, and/or modified Banner User Accounts requires completion of CT927: Banner Users and FERPA Compliance Module through MyTraining.
Account Request Form Submission Process
Scan completed Banner Forms and email as an attachment to SIS.Security@UTSA.edu, with subject line "Account Request Form for [Employee Name]"
