RICHARD E. W. ADAMS ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number and amount of awards vary. Award is disbursed in the fall semester.

  • Must be enrolled as full-time graduate student (minimum of 9 semester credit hours) during the semester in which the award is disbursed
  • Must be specializing in the sub discipline of archaeology in the Department of Anthropology
  • Must be in good standing during the semester in which they apply for the scholarship
    • Application requirements: Application form, which includes an essay describing research goals in archaeology.

DOÑA AGRIPINA DE URDANETA ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ANTHROPOLOGY
Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be an undergraduate student in anthropology
  • Must have completed a minimum of 60 credit hours
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Must indicate, through a written statement, their intention of entering the UTSA graduate program in anthropology upon their graduation and why they want a graduate degree in anthropology
  • Preference will be given to applicants studying cultural anthropology and also to applicants who represent the first generation in their family to attend a college or university, and/or are residents of South Texas, including Bexar County
    • Application requirements: Application form including an essay indicating the following: (1) their intention of entering the UTSA graduate program in anthropology upon graduation; and (2) why they want a graduate degree in anthropology

FRIENDS OF ANTHROPOLOGY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF ANNE FOX AND DON LEWIS
Award: Number and amount of awards vary. Award is dispersed in the fall semester.

  • Must be a graduate student in good standing in anthropology
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
    • Application requirements: Application form, which includes an essay in which students must discuss what they hope to gain from their graduate education in anthropology.

JAMES C. GIFFORD MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be a currently enrolled anthropology graduate student in good standing who has made significant progress toward the M.A. degree
  • Preference given to students in the fields of Meso–American and Southwestern archaeology
    • Application requirement: Application form (original plus four copies), which includes a letter of nomination from a faculty member and a copy of a paper written in the year

 

GRADUATE THESIS SCHOLARSHIPS IN ANTHROPOLOGY
Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be a currently enrolled anthropology graduate student in good standing (at least 3.0 graduate GPA), who have completed a minimum of 12 hours of graduate course work.
  • Must be registered for at least three credit hours during the semester in which they apply.
  • Must have initiated the process of crafting thesis research with their faculty advisors.
    • Application requirement: Application form. In addition, applicants need to write an essay describing their research topic, and how the scholarship moneys will be used.

THE MERITORIOUS ACHIEVEMENT AWARD FOR GRADUATE STUDENTS IN ANTHROPOLOGY
Award: Number and amount of awards vary

  • Must be a graduate anthropology student enrolled in a minimum of 3 credit hours during the semester in which the award is disbursed.
  • Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 during the semester in which the award is disbursed.
    • Application requirement: Application form (including essay), and a letter of support from a faculty member (UTSA or prior college or university attended
