LILLIAN WALD BELLER ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must have completed at least 60 hours of college credit
- Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
- Must be an English major and must apply to the Teacher Certification Program at UTSA
- Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
- Preference given to single parents, male or female, who are supporting dependent children in their home
Application requirements: Lillian Wald Beller Endowed Scholarship application, and nonfiction writing sample of 600-900 words on a topic of literary criticism
ALAN E. CRAVEN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must be a graduate student majoring in English
- Must register and complete a minimum of 6 credit hours per semester during the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded
- Must have a minimum cumulative 3.2 GPA
Application requirement: Alan E. Craven Scholarship application
DAVIDSON-SHADDOX ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN CREATIVE WRITING
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must have declared an undergraduate major in English and have completed at least 60 hours of college credit
- Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
- Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA in English courses
- Must enroll in an upper-level creative writing course during the academic year in which the award is given
Application requirement: Davidson-Shaddox Creative Writing Scholarship application and letter, and submission of a creative writing manuscript (poetry or prose).
KENNETH ALAN HOVEY MEMORIAL ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number and amount of awards vary depending on the applicant pool and funds available
- Must be enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 credit hours for undergraduate students and 6 credit hours for graduate students) and actively pursuing a degree in the Department of English or in Humanities in the Department of Philosophy and Classics
- Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least 60 hours of college credit at the time of application
- Must have a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA for undergraduates, 3.5 for graduates on a scale of 4.0
- Must demonstrate strong writing skills in a two-page writing sample, submitted along with the application. The topic will vary each year.

EILEEN LUNDY SCHOLARSHIP FOR EXCELLENCE IN ENGLISH EDUCATION
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must be returning to college, with preference given to students who have not attended college full time for a period of 10 years or more, and who have completed a minimum of 60 hours with a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
- Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
- Must have declared an undergraduate major in English
- Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
Application requirements: Eileen Lundy Scholarship for Excellence in English Education application and a 250- to 500-word essay describing reasons for wanting to teach English at the high school or college level
WADE RICHMOND ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must have completed at least 60 hours of college credit
- Must be an English major actively pursuing literary studies and enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
- Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
Application requirements: Wade Richmond Endowed Scholarship application and nonfiction writing manuscript of 600-900 words on a topic of literary criticism
KEITH THOMAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary
- Must be enrolled and in good standing in a graduate program in English(MA or PhD) at UTSA
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 hours of graduate credit in English during the term of the award
- Must have a minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA
Application requirements: Keith Thomas Memorial Scholarship application, three letters of recommendation, at least one of which addresses the applicant's potential as a teacher (see graduate advisory for specific criteria and requirements), 8-10 page writing sample of literary analysis, must have on record official GRE scores (General Exam); these scores will only be used in comparison with applicants of similar socioeconomic background.
