THE JUDITH G. GARDNER WRITING PROGRAM SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One $2,000 scholarship in WRC 1013 and one in WRC 1023 & Two $1,000 scholarships in WRC 1013 and two in WRC 1023

  • Must register or/be enrolled in WRC 1013/WRC 1023, depending on which scholarship he/she is seeking
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Must be majoring in any University discipline
  • Must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or a UTSA GPA of 2.5, whichever is applicable
    • Application requirement: The Judith G. Gardner Writing Program Scholarship application. Submit a recommendation from a teacher who can address the student's writing skills (not necessarily an English teacher) and submit a 400-600 word essay of prescribed topic.

 WRITING ACROSS THE CURRICULUM SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Two awards of $2,500 each

  • Must be a UTSA sophomore or junior.
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours) at UTSA
  • May be majoring in any University discipline.
  • Paper may have been written for a Fall or a Spring class
  • Must have a minimum UTSA GPA of 2.5.
  • Must submit a form signed by the course instructor for which the paper was written verifying the paper was written by the applicant for his/her class.
  • Must agree to publication of the paper in any UTSA media.   
  • Must agree to publication of name and photograph.

 WRITING PROGRAM FRESHMAN SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One award of $5,000

  • Must register or/be enrolled in WRC 1013 at UTSA
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 credit hours)
  • Must be majoring in any University discipline
  • Must have a high school GPA of 3.0.   Attach a transcript or verification by senior counselor
  • Must agree to publication of name, photograph, and essay in any UTSA media.
    • Application requirement: Writing Program Scholarship application. Submit a recommendation from a teacher who can address the student's writing skills (not necessarily an English teacher) and submit a 1000-1200 word essay of prescribed topic.
