May the Torque Be with You

A new product created by a team of UTSA students could save companies billions.

For the past decade, UTSA's Center for Innovation, Technology and Entrepreneurship has been bringing together business and engineering students to invent tech products that benefit society. The undergraduates tackle the challenge as their senior project and some take the venture further by competing in CITE's Student Technology Venture Competition.

The competition provides students with the opportunity to build a technology, patent it, create a business and launch it in an incubator program. Previously held in the fall and spring semesters, the competition will now be held only in the spring. First place winners receive awards valued at more than $200,000. In honor of what's to come, we deconstruct the most recent winning project. Hover over the image with your cursor to see how the team combined common tools into one product that solves a costly and sometimes dangerous problem.
