Downtown Campus Task Force

Current StatusOperationalized

Charge

The Downtown Campus Task Force will develop the infrastructure, principles and processes needed to enable Downtown students to have a comprehensive living and learning experience, without the need to travel to the Main Campus. Three task force sub-groups will examine and develop integrated action plans for curriculum, housing and the student experience. The plans will be scalable in order to adapt to a growing Downtown Campus student population, and will maximize efficiencies and resources across both campuses.

Strategic Plan Midpoint Update (Fall 2022)

In 2018, the Downtown Campus Task Force completed a series of town hall presentations and table talks to develop a vision for UTSA’s footprint in San Antonio’s dynamic downtown.

Elements of this vision include:

  • Construction San Pedro I, home to UTSA’s School of Data Science and the National Security Collaboration Center (completion: January 2023)
  • The creation of UTSA Southwest
  • Efforts to promote education and professional development programs to support the needs of the San Antonio workforce
  • A plan to fully integrate all of UTSA’s resources downtown, including the Hemisphere Campus and the Institute of Texan Cultures
  • Planned future construction projects
