This initiative will create a new freshman-focused residence hall designed with student success in mind. Initiative working group members will collaborate with relevant entities to design a residence that provides a dynamic support network and increased engagement, including common area spaces that facilitate meaningful interactions to build community, convenience to on-campus support services and amenities that foster connections. Housing 360 freshmen, the hall will expand the residential experience for more students and drive student retention and success through programming that emulates best practices for student engagement.

The construction of Guadalupe Hall will bring UTSA’s Honors College to new levels of national prominence.

Strategic Plan Midpoint Update (Fall 2022)

A working group, co-led by Veronica Salazar, Chief Financial Officer and Vice President for Business Affairs, and Tammy Wyatt, Vice Provost for Student Success, worked with TREANORHL and Alamo Architects to develop plans for Guadalupe Hall, UTSA’s newest residential community for first-year students on Main Campus.

With nearly 200 double-occupancy bedrooms accommodating 360 students, Guadalupe Hall was designed to foster student success by uniting learning and social programs in one space. The facility includes common areas, study spaces and other rooms meant to facilitate the meaningful interactions and collaboration that have been shown to positively impact student retention and graduation rates.

Since 2021, Guadalupe Hall has been the temporary home of UTSA’s Honors Residential College. The UTSA Honors College provides a unique, highly experiential educational experience for 1,700 academically-talented undergraduates. Modeled on the nation’s preeminent honors colleges, UTSA’s experiential approach helps students of all majors become leaders, develop as professionals, and intellectually achieve beyond coursework.
