John Kaulfus - Associate Dean of Students
John Kaulfus

John currently serves as the Associate Dean of Students at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He came to UTSA in September of 2001 as the Managing Director of University Oaks and Chisholm Hall. He was hired as the Executive Director of the University Center and Student Activities in January of 2004, and in February of 2007, he transitioned to his current position. John oversees the Office of Student Activities, the Special Events Center, and the Inclusion and Community Engagement Center. John chairs the following campus-wide committees: the Student Affairs Professional Development Team, the Future Commencements Task Force, the Homecoming Committee, and Roadrunner Days (UTSA's Week of Welcome). He also serves as a co-advisor for SGA and he supervises the Student Life Web Specialist.

Before coming to UTSA, John worked as a housing professional at the University of Texas at Austin (RA and Hall Director - 1989-1994), Texas State (Hall Director - 1994-1997), St. Joseph's University (Area Coordinator - 1997-1998), and Texas State Technical College (Assistant Director and Managing Director - 1999-2001).  He earned both his undergraduate degree in Social Work (1992) and his masters degree in Higher Education Administration (1995) from the University of Texas at Austin.  John is currently a doctoral student at UTSA in the Educational Leadership program.  His interests outside of work include watching football (college and pro), basketball (all things Spurs and college), playing tennis, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
