The Adventures of Thank You Rowdy

Thank You Rowdy had quite the adventure while visiting Kelsey in the Risk Education, Alcohol and Drug Programs office.  It just so happened he was visiting at the time of Alcohol Awareness Week.

Thank You Rowdy started his adventure by inviting UTSA Students, Faculty and Staff to the Alcohol Awareness Week events by announcing the event posters (right).

Thank You Rowdy made the pledge to be a Responsible Roadrunner.  He said that he promised not to drink or use drugs and drive or let any of his friends get behind the wheel impaired.

For signing the pledge, Thank You Rowdy received his chip clip that now hold his back pack closed and a “Be Rowdy Be Responsible” key chain.  Thank You Rowdy thought that was an important pledge, so he insisted on encouraging other Roadrunners to sign the pledge.  (You will find the pledge in his Travel Log)

Thank You Rowdy attended the Picture Yourself….Responsible event on Wednesday and made his own scrapbook page for the scrapbook with stories and tips from fellow Roadrunners.

He then went to the 21 Club Birthday Celebration to wish Roadrunners a Happy 21st Birthday and enjoyed a yummy treat.

Students who turn 21 receive a birthday post card with safety tips and a coupon for a free smoothie from the UTSA Smoothie King.

Thank You Rowdy then attended the 2nd Annual Campus Crawl.  He received his own backstage staff pass.  At the Tailgate Party at the Oaks (the first of 4 events for the Crawl), he witnessed the mini-drama the Resident Assistants put together.  One student pretended to pass out and the Fire Department came out to educate the participants on what happens when someone has alcohol poisoning and how to prevent it.

Thank You Rowdy is quite exhausted from his adventure and said he wanted to spend some time with the Residence Life and Housing staff who helped with Campus Crawl.  He will have a chance to get a good night’s sleep and learn more about on campus living at UTSA!
