A New Year’s Resolution: Comfortable in Your Own Color

- Donna Edmondson

As a New Year’s resolution, I decided to be comfortable. Depending on your perspective, comfortable can mean different things, but in general and according to my computer’s dictionary, it means to be free from stress or anxiety; feeling comfort or ease. So from a True Colors perspective, what would being comfortable in your own color look like?

For a dominant Gold, one possibility is looking forward to a new beginning. It is a chance to start fresh, have a clean slate (or calendar) upon which to organize his or her environment. In other words, create a zone free of stress. A dominant Blue might see the New Year as an opportunity to rejuvenate his or her optimism and create a new sense of harmony at home and in the workplace; the understanding that we all thrive on. For the ever optimistic Orange, the New Year may be seen as an opening to be more resourceful and actively seek new ways to be more innovative to get more done or juggle more successfully. Innovation allows the dominant Orange flexibility which in turn might reduce stress. The New Year for a dominant Green might be seen as a fresh start in conceptualizing new tasks or activities and developing solutions. Like an Orange, a Green needs the flexibility to have the opportunity to problem solve, which creates that level of comfort. All in all, being comfortable in your color is a matter of perspective. What do you think?
