Congratulations to Jana Kennelly who was selected as the recipient of the “When Pigs Fly” award from University Advancement to staff who “achieve the impossible.” Jana was recognized specifically for the instrumental role she performed influencing the university’s largest gift from a UTSA alumni – $1 million commitment in support of the football program from James (’96) and Catherine Bodenstedt (Catherine currently attend UTSA). Ms. Marjie French, VP for University Advancement, selects the annual recipient and described Jana as “one of the best fundraisers I’ve ever known.” Great job, Jana!

Yvonne-
Many times the Out of Office Auto Reply comes back and says that the person is out and to contact another person if the message requires immediate attention.
However, today, yours was unique and really made quite an impact.
Your message, “I am currently out of the office with 30 amazing student leaders at the Southwestern Black Student Leadership Conference, so I will respond to your emails upon my return on Monday, January 24th” was something that really hit me. You called your student leaders “amazing.”
This short statement gave a different perspective of being out of the office for a conference. It made an impact and a positive impression on how you feel about UTSA student leaders!
Thank you for giving me another perspective and a quick way to notify possible contacts of the great things the students are doing.
I am sure the 30 amazing students leaders had an exceptional learning experience at the conference!

Jan,
I am passing “Thank You Rowdy” on to Jan Daniels to show my appreciation for the hard work and dedication she displays on a daily basis in Enrollment Services in her role as an ESO II Supervisor/Counselor. Jan is a strong advocate for the students to ensure they are receiving the utmost quality customer service and will exhaust all financial aid resources to assist students in need of additional funds. I appreciate the way Jan always does follow-up with me as well as students, in a timely manner. Jan’s supervisory skills are very professional and she leads by example. I admire the way Jan takes the opportunity to mentor her staff to ensure they are where they need to be in their job roles. Many times Jan will anticipate upcoming situations and offer ideas on how we may need to prepare. Often times when I ask for assistance on a project or simply asking for ideas, she is one of the first to respond. Jan also takes the time to show appreciate for the entire ESC Counter by baking goodies. Your commitment and dedication makes me proud to have you as a part of my team.
