Student Conduct and Community Standards Welcomes Interns

Student Conduct and Community Standards (SCCS) is pleased to introduce and welcome three outstanding graduate interns to the department and Division of Student Affairs. They are all completing coursework toward a master's degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at UTSA and plan to graduate in May 2013. They have joined together for multicultural leadership/diversity presentations at UTSA's Leadership NOW! and Baylor University's Multicultural Leadership Summit in February and March respectively.

    • Courtney R'Shad Allen: SCCS internship is coupled with an emphasis in Housing and Residence Life. He works as a graduate research assistant for the UTSA Center for Research and Policy in Education. Prior to finding his path in Student Affairs, Courtney earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture/animal science from Prairie View A&M University. Courtney aspires to begin his professional career working in Housing and Residence Life or Student Conduct while continuing his education in pursuit of his doctorate.

    • Corey James Benson: is employed as a graduate assistant for multicultural programs in the Inclusion and Community Engagement Center. He earned a bachelor’s degree in communication from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. As a graduate student at UTSA, Corey served as president of both the Graduate Student Association and the Higher Education Administration Student Association. He worked on the conference planning committees for the 4th Annual Texas Higher Education Symposium, the 2012 Fall Conference of the Texas Association of College and University Student Personnel Administrators, and the 2012 Central Regional Conference of the National Association of Campus Activities. Past presentations include, “A Network of Access: Marketing Campus Activities and Accessible Communication” and, “Risk Management Basics: Risk Management for Student Leaders and New Professionals” which he co-presented with Kelsey Bratcher, Associate Director of Student Activities. Corey is a member of both NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education and the Association of Student Conduct Administrators (ASCA). Additionally he is an alumnus of the NASPA Undergraduate Fellows Program (NUFP). Corey’s goals include pursuit of both a law degree and a doctoral degree in higher education administration.

    • Rob Loveday: is employed with UTSA Housing and Residence Life. He earned a degree in history from Sam Houston State University and a high school teacher certification. Rob identified his path in higher education. His future vocation in Student Affairs includes a strong interest in housing and residence life. Rob will pursue a doctorate and plans to transition into a faculty position where he looks forward to teaching the next generation of student affairs practitioners from a depth of experience.

We hope you will introduce yourself to each of our graduate interns and wish them well as they complete this semester and continue their educational and occupational pursuits.
