The UTSA Office of Student Life announces the appointment of Daniel Gockley as director of housing and residence life, effective July 22.
"We are very excited about having Dan join us at UTSA in this critical role," said Kevin Price, associate vice president for student life and dean of students. "Dan is an outstanding housing professional. I'm confident he will do an excellent job for us."

The Office of the Registrar provided various system announcements in this informative Registrar PowerPoint Presentation. Also, the Office of the Registrar is pleased to announce that Sean Burns has joined the Division of Student Affairs as a Web Specialist. Sean comes to the Division from the UTSA Institute for Economic Development where he was the Web Specialist working on the IED’s federal Small Business National Information Clearinghouse contract. Sean developed, managed and wrote the content for SBDCNet.org.

Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services would like to introduce the revamped financial literacy and money management program, Rowdy Cents! Rowdy Cents offers presentations, group workshops, and one-on-ones to educate students on money management topics, such as how to set up a spending plan, credit basics, life after college, the financial importance of graduating on time, loan repayment and more.
Financial literacy programs are expanding nationwide to strengthen students’ holistic wellness and overall graduation retention. Rowdy Cents has been building partnerships and would love to collaborate with more Student Affairs departments to achieve these same goals for our UTSA students!

Roadrunner Days is the official kick-off for the new school year, running Aug. 23-30 with a wide selection of free, fun and spirited events designed to welcome new and returning students with a look at campus life.

Freshmen can order a Rowdy Rush jersey and be part of the team when it comes on to the Alamodome field prior to every home game. Rowdy Rush members will rush the football field at the Alamodome before every home game, form a tunnel with the band, and welcome the UTSA Football team to the field!

Stay on top of the news of higher education by using this UTSA Library Link for The Chronicle of Higher Education. The Office of Housing and Residence Life is currently creating “Welcome Bags” for our residents in order for them to have something waiting in their rooms upon their arrival on August 23, 2013. We believe this might be a great way to show the resident’s the types of resources that are on-campus and also promote our on-campus partners!! Housing and Residence Life will provide the drawstring bag for our residents –but we need help filling the bags! If you are interested in helping us fill the bags by providing give-a-ways, small flyers, and/or items that will get our resident’s attention (and that will fit into a drawstring bag)

The Office of Housing & Residence Life is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to bring your biggest Roadrunner Pride as you help the newest “On-Campus Roadrunners” move into their new home. This is an opportunity to meet new students and show your pride as member of the UTSA community.
We invite faculty, staff and students to volunteer in 2 hour shifts from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 23rd and Saturday, August 24th. Volunteers will be asked to help students and their families move personal items into their rooms and may assist with other move-in duties as needed.

The LeaderShape Institute @ UTSA will be holding its 3 Year Reunion on August 27, 2013, from 3pm - 5pm in the Denman Room UC 2.01.28.
It is the time of year for many chapters within our fraternity and sorority community to recruit new members. Below are important dates noting the activities related to joining their lifelong communities.

UTSA departments in need of student employees have an excellent resource in the HireRoadrunners.com website, hosted by the University Career Center.
At HireRoadunners.com, UTSA faculty, staff and departments can post job openings. Both work-study and non-work study positions on campus should be posted there for all eligible students to view and apply for.
The University Career Center will host a part-time job fair for both on-campus and off-campus part-time jobs Thursday, Sept. 5 in the H-E-B University Center. There is no charge for UTSA departments to attend. Register for a table at the job fair at HireRoadrunners.com.

The Oklahoma State colors are black and orange, UTSA's are blue, orange and white -- and the fans of both teams tend to wear orange. In anticipation of a large, orange-clad Cowboys contingent at the Sept. 7 football home opener at the Alamodome, Roadrunners fans are asked to wear white.
UTSA Athletics online merchandise provider, UTSAGear.com, has a wide array of white apparel in men's, women's and children's sizes including t-shirts and hats for UTSA fans. The football team will follow the lead of its fans and will wear all white against its first-ever Big 12 opponent. Kickoff for the nationally televised game on FOX Sports 1 will be at 11 a.m.

Student Government Elections will be held September 10-11 with the results being announced on September 12. Students can vote online 24 hours via ASAP.
Student Government will be hosting a National Voter Registration Day event in the afternoon on Tuesday September 24th on the Paseo.
Student Health Services is now hosting free dental screenings at the Recreation and Wellness Center 1.806 classroom, offered via a collaboration with the UTHSCSA Dental School faculty and their students, who will conduct the dental screenings.

An Alcohol Education Event that is open to all UTSA students sponsored by the Office of Student Activities and Risk Education, Alcohol and Drug Programs.
The 14th Annual Texas Conference for Women is being held on Tuesday, November 19, 2013, at the Austin Convention Center. The Application Deadline is October 28, 2013. The UTSA Student Leadership Center is offering a scholarship to attend this event.

UTSA Day is the perfect opportunity to see what it's like to be a Roadrunner. Attendees spend the day exploring our scenic campus bustling with student activity and excitement. Our information fair and presentation sessions will feature our nine colleges, financial aid, scholarships, housing and our many student services. Future students and their families should circle October 19, 2013, on their calendar, and visit UTSA between 9:00am and 3:00pm.

The transition of the UTSA campuses to tobacco-free and smoke-free status will begin June 1, 2013. Through this one-year transition period, smoking and the use of tobacco products will be restricted to designated areas on campus.
UTSA is committed to supporting students and employees who wish to stop using tobacco products. For students, resources are available through Student Health Services. For employees, resources are available through the Employee Assistance Program.
