AUTM Recommends Universities Review the
'Nine Points to Consider in Licensing University Technology'

The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM) recommends nine points to consider in university technology transfer agreements based on certain core values that all universities share.

Patent Reform Legislation

Both the U.S. House and Senate have introduced legislation to change the U.S. patent system. Among the changes proposed are the introduction of a “first-inventor-to-file” system, provisions for an experimental research exemption, and provisions that retain the CREATE ACT enacted in 2004.

Ken Porter to lead South Texas technology transfer initiative

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) are taking the lead in a new initiative to move novel scientific processes and technology more quickly from the lab into the marketplace.  Kenneth W. Porter, Ph.D., M.B.A., will manage the new consortium that will include UTSA, the UTHSCSA and its medical research division in Edinburg and medical education division in Harlingen, The University of Texas at Brownsville and The University of Texas Pan American.  He will also serve as director of the newly combined UTSA-UTHSCSA Office of Technology Ventures.
