The College of Science offers unparalleled opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research in information security, cell and molecular biology, neuroscience, environmental remediation, and much more.  The newly opened $10.6 million Margaret Batts Tobin Laboratory Building Houses numerous biology labs, a computer media center, and UTSA's research focus on emerging infectious diseases.

The College of Engineering conducts research in structural and information security, transportation issues, biomaterials, biomechanics, robotics, and sustainability issues.  Federally funded research in these areas contributes to the development of the economic potential of the South Texas region and homeland security of the state and nation.
