For the Fall semester of 2009, approximately 16
high school students who have been admitted to UTSA will be selected to
receive Terry Scholarships to support their attendance at UTSA. Terry Scholarships are awarded to UTSA students who graduate
from Texas high schools and demonstrate promise of future leadership. The goal of the Foundation is to assist these students
in developing their future and the future of those around them.
The principal selection criteria are demonstrated potential and financial need. The Terry Foundation hopes that Terry Scholars
will have a significant impact on the future leadership of the state and nation.
The amount of an award is determined by the Terry Foundation. The Foundation takes into account the student's and parents'
financial resources and provides sufficient assistance beyond that to cover tuition, books, fees, and reasonable living expenses
on campus. Renewal of the award beyond the first year is determined by the Foundation's Board of Directors. Awards average $46,000
over a four-year period
