As of 8/28/13, students may no longer use the Accuplacer exam to satisfy thier TSI requirement. All students not TSI compliant must take the new TSI Assessment.

Effective January 1, 2011 the following test fees will increase:
Accuplacer ($32), CLEP registration fee ($25) and
THEA QT registration fee ($25)

If students plan to attend another institution, they cannot take Accuplacer with UTSA’s Testing Services Office but should schedule the exam through the educational institution they have applied to.

Accuplacer is an approved alternate to the THEA test (formerly known as TASP). Approved alternate tests may be taken in place of the THEA test to fulfill a student’s Teacher Certification requirement.

Accuplacer consists of three sections: elementary algebra, reading and writing (sentence skills plus essay). The multiple-choice sections of Accuplacer are not timed, however, the essay section does have a 90-minute time limit. On average, most students take two-and-one-half to three hours to complete the exam.

Scores for all sections of the test are available immediately after completion of the test. Scores will also be electronically posted into the UTSA system by the next business day so that advisors may access the examinee’s scores for use at UTSA.

Eligible students, who have been admitted to UTSA, must register for the Accuplacer online by logging onto ASAP.

Testing Schedule

No standbys or walk-ins allowed on test day.

The Accuplacer exam costs $32.00 which is charged to the student's UTSA account after testing has been completed.
