Steps To Becoming A Complete Roadrunner
Let’s make you a complete roadrunner ready to jump into a great future and first year at UTSA! We don’t want you to be limping along your first year so get your roadrunner together.
The HEAD
Offices of Admissions and Registrar:
Apply early and submit all supporting documents for Admission.
Apply at: http://www.utsa.edu/Admissions/apply/Appy_UTSA.html
Send all supporting documentation such as transcripts and score reports.
The Feet
Testing Services Office:
Left foot
Texas Success Initiative testing (TSI). Required by law. Any students who
do not meet full exemption criteria need to take either all or sections
of THEA, Accuplacer, ASSET or Compass. To review a list of exemptions and
UTSA’s developmental plan visit: www.utsa.edu/success/.
Right foot
Placement testing can be required for many students prior to
course registration. Even students who obtained full TSI exemptions often
have to take math or chemistry placement exams prior to Orientation. Which
placement
you need to take depends on your major? Do you need Algebra or Chemistry
your first semester? Do you want to take Precalculus or Calculus your first
term? Visit www.utsa.edu/asap and logon to the testing site for placement
answers.
The Body
Orientation:
Orientation is going to connect you to all the essential information
and offices you need to be a success. It is also mandatory. You must register
by logging onto: www.utsa.edu/asap. Remember the password you establish
so you can get back into the system in case you need to review information.
Pay special attention to your status in terms of testing and make sure to
get all your required testing done and scores sent in prior to participating.

Advising:
Advising will guide you in the right direction to help you accomplish your
academic dreams. You will be advised and registered for classes during Orientation.
Freshmen who declare a major are advised by the Central Freshman Advising
Center and undeclared Freshmen are advised by the Tomas Rivera Center for
Student Success.
The Wings
Financial Aid:
Financial Aid helps connect you with the financial resources you need to
fund your academic future. Apply as soon as possible for potenticial assistance
through loans, grants, work-study and scholarships at www.utsa.edu/financial
aid/
