Focus Groups
What
A highly structured focus group where a facilitator elicits both quantitative and qualitative feedback about a course from a group of 8-10 students. The instructor receives a transcript of anonymous student comments, a histogram depicting student satisfaction levels, and a color-coded table reflecting course or program strengths and weakness.
Why
Focus groups can serve as a complement to traditional student ratings, allowing the instructor to obtain both qualitative and quantitative feedback typically not gathered in traditional end-of-semester student ratings.
How
A trained TLC focus group presenter will conduct the focus group session.
When
At any point during the course.

Quick Course Diagnosis
What
A Quick Course Diagnosis is a 15-20 minute interactive course evaluation protocol.

These data, a histogram depicting student satisfaction levels, a summary of the student learning outcomes best achieved and least achieved (optional), and a color-coded table reflecting course or program strengths and weakness, can be used for longitudinal analysis.
How
A TLC trained presenter will come to your class to conduct the activities.
When
At any point during the course.
