Focus Groups
The TLC offers two services free-of-charge to UTSA faculty members, grauate students, departments, and units (1) one-hour structured Focus Groups(FGs); and (2) twenty-minute Quick Courses Diagnoses (QCDs).
Both protocols capture and display information related to student satisfaction levels, Student Learning Outcomes(SLOs), and course/program strengths and weaknesses. These data are displayed through Excel Histograms and a color-coded Word table (See examples below). Additionally, the longer Focus Group offers a transcript of the responses to open-ended questions. Click on the link below for a one-page description.

To determine how well students feel that your stated SLOs for the course are being met, display the numbered SLOs and ask students to indicate on an index card the two SLos best met and the two least achieved.
