Colleges' Freshman Advising Center completes office move

(Sept. 17, 2003)--The UTSA Colleges' Freshman Advising Center recently completed a move to Physical Plant Building Room 1.01.10 on the 1604 Campus. The office was formerly located in the Science Building.

Pictured are staff members from the Colleges' Freshman Advising Center at the new facilities on the 1604 Campus (from left): Alfred Lopez, academic adviser; Susan Rivera, academic adviser; Mickie Dame, administrative assistant; and Meg Gibson, academic adviser. Gibson serves freshmen at the Downtown Campus advising center but was on hand to help her colleagues with the move.

The center provides advice to freshmen with declared majors regarding degree programs, university policies and procedures, and campus resources. The goal of the center is to guide UTSA undergraduate students, transfer students and prospective students toward success in achieving their academic goals.

As liaisons between students and UTSA, the center offers professional expertise in a service-oriented environment. The interaction empowers students to develop their educational plans according to their life goals.

Included in the center's goals are to positively influence post-secondary education for future generations and foster the growth of the UTSA community and a culturally diverse society.
