Counseling services offers discussion, support groups

(Sept. 26, 2003)--The UTSA Office of Counseling Services is organizing three discussion and support groups this fall. The groups are free and open to all UTSA students.

For more information, call Tracy Sloan at 210-458-4140.

The Gen 1 Group is for students who are of the first generation in their families to attend college. The group will offer support and dialogue on such issues as family role, achieving goals and defining identities. Meeting times are to be determined.

The Women's Support Group offers a safe, supportive environment in which women can explore their thoughts and feelings. Meeting times are to be determined.

The GLBT Pride Group is for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender students comfortable with or exploring their sexual identity. The group will allow members to share life experiences and examine issues related to sexual identity (i.e. coming out, homophobia, heterosexism), personal identity and relationships. The group meets each Wednesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
